How to create a Traning Session
Posted: December 15, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentPrint off and hand out the needs assessment survey or make your own similar one to give to the community
Get the community members to fill it out and pass it back in as soon as possible
This will give you an idea of what they are interested in learning about or getting asisstance with
Do some research on the important topics and get the things you will need to start the session (tutorials online, videos, etc..)
After you do this, you can apply those needs and possibly create new tutorials to go along with whatever sessions you are having
Make a summary (step-by-step) sheet, with all the information the people need to know. Print off and have them available for them to take home
These will be usefull to look at if they forget a detail that was said in the training session, great as a reference

About the BSL C@PSITE
Posted: July 13, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a commentThe Bay St. Lawrence c@p site is a very popular place, especially for children. As soon as summer starts the kids can’t wait to see what activities are going to be happening there next. They love stopping by the community centre and spending the day. They use it for internet use as well as playing games like, basketball and soccer or whatever crafts we happen to be doing. This is my second year working at the community centre, but first year working for vccaps. Last year i worked with the youth doing activities so i like to incorperate those activities along with teaching them computer safety or any other things i can help them with but also making it fun at the same time to keep their attention.
About Bay St. Lawrence; brief description

Bay st. lawrence is a small fishing village at the very end of cape breton. It has beautiful views, and although its a rural area; it has lots to offer. The population is small, but the people are very welcoming and friendly wherever you go. Some things available to do in the summer are, campgrounds such as the “Jumping mouse campground”, whale watches like “Oshan” and also the “Bay Cafe” located in the community centre, along with the Bay st. lawrence c@p site. You can stop by for internet use and have a hot meal cooked and served to you while your there.
